Charlotte received this message from friends in the Netherlands:

Dear Charlotte,

This crisis is everywhere and touches everybody.

We all knew since several years something would happen.

Atomic war, a rebellion of different religions…

But, something minuscule…

I hope you and your family are in good health.

We are privileged to live in such a beautiful surroundings, where apparently nothing changes.

Take care and with best wishes to all of you.

Charlotte’s response:

Thanks for your message. Yes, we are living in very troubled times.

I was just released from three weeks in hospital therapy, after a 3-hour brain surgery due to a number of strange complications, all of which took place after my hip replacement last August. I thank God for my ability to come through it all and to return to this beautiful place on the river.

Don’t have much energy at this point but will be doing massive therapy for several months. Sarah, one of my sister’s seven children and her husband, both just retired (she 25 year public school teacher and he, a technology guru) will be caring for me 24 hours a day for at least 12 weeks and possibly more since they are from New York state (high up coronavirus state) and got out before deaths rose so high in NYC.

How lucky can I be?

My prayers are with all of you in Belgium and to my closest friends in USA.

Please pass this info on to members of your family on other side of Atlantic.

Love to all of you,

Charlotte
